Buying bags/purses online can be nerve-wrecking if you’re not a bag snob.
A bag of quality and of designer can begin at $800 for a small purse for up to $30,000+ for an Hermes.
I think an average luxury bag ranges at the $2,000 mark plus and minus $300 that includes Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga to smaller Chanel’s etc.
In current efforts to buy the Akris bag which estimated to start at about $3,000 or so left me no choice, but to opt for other handbags.
I am not one to splurge on bags on a regular basis (hence my life as a blogger), but sometimes it’s a staple item that will last you your lifetime and can be passed on to your offsprings. I’ll explain why.
For an example take a luxury bag priced at about $2,500 and divide it by at least 30 years of wear. If my math is done correctly, it’s about $83 a year to wear. Divide that by 12 months. That’s only $6 a month to sport that bag. (I’m referring to classic bags over the trendy luxury bags).
Disclaimer: This is not a mathematical solution or formula for all handbags. You have to remember to take various accounts into consideration (ie: trendiness/color/season/material/etc).
So therefore my point being that it’s OKAY to splurge sometimes so I’ve been web surfing for some time now and came to realize how difficult it was to find that one bag that I love (after having fall in love with that Akris bag).
When I find bags that I love, I like to see it in person to get the real feel, look and weight of the bag’s personality before I make the executive decision to buy it.
The local retailer market is very limited in comparison to the world wide web (duh! right?) so I’ve failed to find something tangible here that I’ve taken the next step in considering buying the bag online.

The reason why I’m pulled on not buying it online is over the many bags that I considered as a choice felt and seemed different than posted online. Nothing new, but the bags always look better online. (TOTAL BUMMER)!
So my dilemma now is If the feel of the bag is so different when held verses online, how does the online bag business thrive?
Do many people buy their bags online or do you just take the chance of hoping that when you receive the bag, that it will work out.

I think people buy it online when:
1.) it’s a really good deal that they feel they need to snag at that moment (like Sak’s clearance sales)
2.) they’ve seen the bag in person already and have been eyeing it… and found a better deal for it online
At least for me, this is true even with clothing. Usually, if I know of an upcoming sale or promotion, I’ll check out the store and eye a few items, and then I’ll go online to purchase it. I think that’s probably why online business thrive.
I totally agree w/ #2. my thoughts on #1 is that i’ve seen really cute bags on sale and then when i confirm what i’m getting when i see it in the store (thats still org. price) i go.. oh mannn!! :( it looks better online… hahaha
Honestly, I look at bags online & then buy at the store [specifically at the boutique or NM or Nordstroms] but sometimes, I’m disappointed by the fact that it does look better online rather than feeling it in my hands… For an example, the Gucci Large Sukey silver metallic tote, looked fab on Bergdorf Goodman [was about to order] till I got a called from my fave sales associate at Gucci [downtown] that they just got it in, went in… felt it, walked out with a different bag. LOL!
Unless, I’m looking in the wrong website, bag shopping becomes a chore so I rely on certain people to get the ONE I want! Akris, it’s too pricey. God… *sighs* + the birkin *deep groan & sigh*
At the Hermes store, they have the Hermes Birkin 25cm…. too DAMN small… what to put in there? an Iphone and wallet?
online can be a tease cuz many times it’s not available here in BELLEVUE/SEATTLEEEEe
I’ll buy online if it’s from a reputable seller; that goes for other items as well. I haven’t had issue with BlueFly, but I don’t know what other people have run into.
bluefly has cheaper pradas than pradas out here in the stores.
that’s true about bluefly.
why do you tease me with VB’s birkins? omg. i think she matches her birkin to her main color palette… i’m talking like a nerd.
or her bra color. she has so many! :) jealous
