SOO many stylist shows are airing on TV. Beginning with Rachel Zoe on Bravo TV, What Not To Wear on TLC, the Stylista on MTV and now another MTV Stylist contest called Styl’d.
What is this new boost on styling? No doubt that they are entertaining, but is it as big as hiring a PA (personal assistant)? What do you think? Is the stylist job market the new fashion designer?

They are very ENTERTAINING! The Gays are DESTINED to rule!!! LOL!!! Yet the redhead [which i didn't catch her name], I think she’s just trying too hard to become the next Rachel Zoe. Zoe knows who her clients want / likes yet she doesn’t since she just asked the Gay guy to keep his opinions to himself because she didn’t want to pressure Kim’s wardrobe and since Kim was paying her. Maybe I’m too harsh as a person to critique. LOL~
The stylist revolution feels like another trending thing, but it’s along the same idea of makeovers that people tend to enjoy in general. I remember years ago when Oprah would do makeovers and it was fun to see the transformation and her ratings would always bump up for those episodes. While I think stylists are the new du jour, people will never tire of change that is tangible. Plus they’re great “living vicariously” shows to watch!
LOL I don’t think Zoe’s a good stylist, AT ALL. She knows only one style which is hers. Every stylist has their own style of working with the clients. Being loud and voicing your opinions dont make you a more assertive stylist.. :)
No doubt. Makeovers are definitely a fun show to watch, but when it comes to the RACE to become the next stylist? I think its a hard ball. I don’t know if its the ‘right’ way to become the next stylist? hmmmmmm i don’t know? lol. Styl’d should be an interesting season. I wonder if it’ll last…
Rogelio is the next big thing…trust me. Give him another few seasons.
Careers for stylists are going to grow. People are recognizing the value of image.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind being a stylist, but for a small image consulting company or on my own. I wouldn’t want to do it through anything like MMA or working as a P.A. for a big name because it seems like everyone in the fashion industry is really immature, negative, and dramatic. Seriously, why does everyone seem to act so childish. You can still get things done, but be positive about it. A lot of magazine editors, stylists, etc need to take some classes in etiquette and leadership. This is just based on my observations of the majority, there are always exceptions.
I believe it! :)
