I went to the JCPenney in Bellevue Square for the first time (getting to and from my car doesn’t count), but for the first time I actually browsed through the men’s section with my brother and was pretty fascinated to see all the Levi’s, Docker’s and everything else in between. (Sorry, I don’t know the other labels).
There are some pretty decent graphic T’s, Husky Wear, Seahawk Jerseys, flannel tops and that sort that I never knew about. The Levi section was the greatest. The wash may not be as nice as the ones at the Levi Store in Downtown Seattle, but the fits look just as good for less than $40! That’s crazy!
In countries outside of the States, you would be amazed to see how the world views Levi’s as a luxury import where us Americans take it for granted. They are some pretty darn good pair of jeans!
Check out JCPenney whenever you get a chance. You may find some decent pair of jeans, T’s, PJs… anything that you’d be comfortable in. Fashionable? Maybe not so much, but great basics can be found. It even may be cheaper than Target.

I just went to JCPenney not too long ago and was amazed as well. Of course they don’t have the brands or wash that I like. However, the layout and selection of denim was uncomparable with other department stores like Nordstrom or Macy’s. I think other department stores could learn a few things from JCPenney.
I love Levi’s especially their super skinny jeans! hehe! Didn’t realize that JCP had them. Totally worth checking them out tomorrow before I head over to Guess! :D
Their shirts are OK but the denims are the same pathetic story as anywhere else. I think the problem is with the shape of the american men. Ready to wear designs makes most of the clothes based on statistical average for the buyers. So if you look at denims the average man’s shape is either:
1. Somebody with huge butt, fat tights and short legs (the pants look like a trash bag split in half);
2. Somebody with very skinny legs and waist 30.
The obesity is taking a heavy toll. The only pair of decent looking denims is something that I found at DL. Reason – they are strechy so they can take the body shape without looking buggy…..
Interesting… I will have to check out JCP one of these days. I’m personally not too picky with denim. But I do find that “higher end” shops and boutiques have significantly better jackets, sweaters and shirts. By better, I mean the fit.
totally agree with you mango. I [heart] David Lawrence. I really love their Versace SS08 metallic stretchy skinny jeans. Jeans for me is like finding a diamond in a haystack for me.
I like JCP for basics. I found some cute summer tops there this summer. And sometimes I find a good basic shoe. I like their purse selection and especially the prices!
lol @mango
Yea, no one ever knew JCP had jeans, period.
LOL my bro got the skinny fit. something about him having lived in Japan and his skinnies.
Yes, you have a very good point. When I think of RTW, I automatically think of Old Navy because the cuts of their shirts and pants are just very irregular and almost a One Size Fits All cut.
If you check out their Levi’s at JCP, there are an array of fits. Not even just JCP, but just the basic basic denim.
Obesity is something most Americans have which can affect clothing fit. JCP will not have much of a selection when it comes to stretch, comfort fit, etc. They’re just stocked with just basic basic jeans for the ‘average’ men in sizes 30-38.
If you’re looking for denim, DNA 2050 may be a good shot. Not too sure about their denim selection, but that’s their forte.
