Personally, I believe everyone should either develop or find a sense of style and always look well put together. But that's not a reality that will happen anytime soon.

It is very important for people in the fashion industry to have a sense of style and look the part. Personal image plays a huge role, whether you like it or not, in how people perceive you. Even if you don't work in the fashion industry, the way you dress can still affect whether you get hired during a job interview or what people want to network with you. In the fashion industry especially, if you don't look the part, you limit your opportunities for advancement and networking. When working in the fashion industry, its an unwritten requisite that you look the part.

If you don't have a sense of style, find one. I used to dress like a scrub, but then I started getting really into fashion and learned what things look well together (i.e. textures, colors, etc). There are several basic things anyone can learn to improve their image. After that, its just a matter of personalizing.
